The event was promoted by Pat Hyland and the Golden Cobra Boxing Club. For the first time ever the home of Irish Boxing, the National Stadium hosted a show featuring both Professional and Amateur contests. In another Irish first, three brothers all featured in pro bouts on the same card as the talented Hyland brothers continue their ascent up the professional rankings.

Paul, Patrick and Edward Hyland have all remained unbeaten since switching from the amateur to the paid ranks last year impressing observers with just how quickly they have adopted to the professional game.

The three Golden Cobra club men won a plethora of titles in the amateur game and are determined to go on to big things in the paid ranks. The trio are trained by Paul Cook, father of European Featherweight Champion, Nicky Cook. All three will feature in bouts on the June 4th card with their opponents being announced at Thursday’s Press Conference.

The other professional bout on the card featured the return of one of the most decorated amateurs to ever emerge from Ireland. The silky southpaw skills of Paul Griffin enthralled the crowds at the National Stadium in the early 90’s in an amateur career that saw him win Four consecutive Irish Senior titles as well as Gold and Bronze medals at European Championships.

Paul turned pro in 1995 and has since compiled an impressive record of 20 wins against just two defeats. Having been based in Australia for four years he is now back home in Dublin on June 4th when stepped back into the ring at the National Stadium for his first pro appearance at the South Circular Road landmark.

The card also featured four amateur bouts showcasing the best of Irish Amateur boxing.
