The Helicopter Nose Mount is non gyro stabilized but has the ability to pan left and right . It is fitted with a Panasonic AW-E800E digital signal processing camera (Resolution 850 lines) with an aspect ratio of 16:9 and 4:3 selectable. SDI and composite video output with full camera and lens remote control.
Operated by GTV the helicopter nose mount is fitted to Irish Helicopters Bell 206 - Jet Ranger. Video pictures / camera power / mount tilt are controlled via cables which run to inside the aircraft. For aerial survey work GTV can also provide a GPS titler which adds real-time GPS data to a composite video recording.

The TV

GTV cameras were in Cape Town, South Africa
following the Irish team competing in the Red Bull Cape Town Man event.
Red Bull Cape Town Man, was a extreme
sea, land and air relay race. 70 teams facing off against each other and the
elements on a rugged peninsula known to early explorers as 'The Cape of Storms'.
Competitors pushed their minds and bodies to the limit in a gruelling mental and
physical challenge involving three extreme sporting disciplines:
adventure biking, mountain running and speed paragliding.

GTV Sport camera records Irish Windsurfer as he Aborts World Record Crossing of Irish Sea
Supported by Red Bull, Irish windsurfing champion Oisin Van Gelderen attempted to set an official world speed sailing record for windsurfing the Irish Sea from Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead, total distance 56 miles.
His attempt had to be aborted 12 miles out to sea due to a sharp change in weather condition with 12 ft high waves and wind speeds of up to 30 knots hampering progress for both Oisin and his safety boat.
Safely back on dry land, Van Gelderen said he will again attempt to set the world record in the coming weeks and if successful the route will become established as an official ‘World Record Route' by the WSSRC (World Sailing Speed Records Council).
The record can then be challenged by any sailing craft under 20ft, which means; windsurfers, Sports Katamarans or Sailing Skiffs like: 49er,18ft or 20ft Skiff and kitesurfers. |

The Woodvale Atlantic Rowing Race is a 2,795 mile epic of endurance and determination, from La Gomera in the Canaries to Antigua in the Carribean.

The crew of Atlantic Challenge, Ciaran Lewis and Gearoid Towey, set out on Wednesday 30th November 2005 to become the first Irish crew to win the Race. On Sunday 8th January following a capsize and break up of the boat a full scale rescue mission was launched coordinated by the Norfolk Coastguard in America. The Hispania Spirit a 98,000 ton gas tanker located the upturned hull of Digicell Atlantic Challenge and nearby a lifteraft containing Ciaran and Gearoid.
